Little Black Jumpsuit

JUMPSUIT lush black gauze jumpsuit (under $60, but currently sold out- linked similar options below) | NECKLACE squash blossom dupe (linked this season’s version) | SHOES black espadrille wedges (under $100) | PURSE louis vuitton neverfull tote

Happy Wednesday! I am a strong believer that every girl needs a little black dress jumpsuit in her closet. You know, the perfect little black jumpsuit that works for brunch with the girls, date night, and even that long plane flight you’ve been dreading. Jumpsuits are such a staple in my closet, and I typically find myself reaching for them more often than I do my flouncy sundresses. There’s just something about jumpsuits. They are casual and comfortable, but they still exude effortless confidence and make any outfit a little extra chic.

I can admit that I first saw this jumpsuit hanging in my mom’s closet back in March (can you tell raiding my mom’s closet is one of my favorite activities?). I tried it on & fell in love. I ended up hopping on Nordstrom and ordering the exact same one for myself! Unfortunately this exact jumpsuit is sold out at the moment, but fingers crossed it will come back in stock soon. I’ve noticed that this piece has gone out of stock more than once on Nordstrom, which is not shocking to me because it’s such a great find (especially for under $60!).

For dinner with my dad, I paired this jumpsuit with a statement necklace and black Steve Madden espadrille wedges (that I recently featured in brown). Though I do adore these affordable, espadrille wedges, I must admit that you do have to break them in. Definitely opt for a band-aid on your heel the very first time you wear them! Besides that tiny, initial downside, I am still not over how much I love them. As for this statement necklace, I purchased it from BaubleBar quite a while ago. In my dream wardrobe, I would definitely a real turquoise squash blossom necklace. The dupe will suffice for now! Though this exact one is no longer on the BaubleBar site, BaubleBar did create one with their Target collab that’s incredibly similar! If you haven’t seen BaubleBar’s collaboration with Target, definitely take a peak. Your wallet will thank you.

I think a black jumpsuit would also be perfect with neutral (or bright colored) sandals and a cross-body purse for a casual day of shopping or exploring. Would this jumpsuit not be absolutely amazing for a beach trip? I definitely think so! Hopefully this jumpsuit comes back in stock again ASAP because it’s wonderful. I have linked several other black jumpsuits for spring below! I hope you’re having a wonderful week.

Agave

New year, new me new accessory. And by accessory, I mean my glamorous new boot. I wish I had some wild story about how I ended up with a boot on my foot, but sadly, I don’t. I tripped on the sidewalk in Deep Ellum about a week ago – crazy, I know. If that doesn’t describe how graceful I am, then I am not quite sure what does! I spent New Years Eve at Urgent Care getting x-rays, but luckily it was not a fracture (it’s just a sprained ankle + foot/toe contusion). I am so excited to get this boot off ASAP.

I am obsessed with agave plants. I think they look so cool, and there is no denying that they make a pretty unique backdrop. When I saw these gems on a recent drive with my sister, I couldn’t help but pull over to take a few photos in front of them. With everything in the winter time being so brown and dead here in Texas, it’s always refreshing to find something with a little bit of color!

striped jumpsuit | crop fur jacket (linked similar) | black western boot

When I found this striped jumpsuit, I knew I needed it in my life (best part? it’s on sale right now!). I absolutely love jumpsuits because they are so easy, but they feel so put-together. I really loved the rich burgundy color of this specific jumpsuit, and the fact that it had vertical stripes. As a short gal, it can be hard to find pieces that makes you look taller & leaner. Narrow, vertical stripes are super flattering and definitely help elongate you (fun fact)! I was so excited to discover my new jumpsuit matched perfectly with my latest find- a cropped burgundy fur jacket. Fur jackets are having their moment right now, and I am loving it. I purchased the burgundy fur jacket on Free People a few weeks ago because it was under $100! Sadly, it is sold out right now, but hopefully it will be back in stock soon!

For a night out, I would totally pair this jumpsuit with a black leather jacket and black velvet heels. For an extra bit of edge, add a dark burgundy lip. I also think it would look killer in the spring time with some neutral wedges and a clutch. I love that the jumpsuit can be worn year round.

I hope that you are having a wonderful Monday!

culotte jumpsuit (from forever21. linked similar) // earrings (similar) // heels // clutch (similar)

“Culottes are my new obsession. I am seriously in love”, I told my roomies just a few weeks ago, holding up a photo of dressy, white culottes on my phone. “Culottes? What the heck is a culotte? Those look like gauchos. Do you mean gauchos- like what we wore in the 4th grade?”.

Culottes, gauchos, same thing. Either way, I still love them. A lot. Being 5’0, it can be difficult finding full jumpsuits and flare-legged pants that don’t completely drown me in heaps of fabric (or require the usual visit to the tailor for routine alterations). Culottes rocks- for every figure, every height. I find them to be surprisingly flattering, especially paired with some dressy sandals/heels. Even better than that, they are comfy x 100. For special events, it can be natural to reach for your typical sundress or your favorite maxi, but why not try something a little out of your comfort zone? Culottes can be perfect for that summer wedding, paired with statement jewelry, a clutch, and dressy sandals. Daytime? Opt for metallic sandals and a loose, beachy braid, and you’re good to go.

Have you tried culottes yet? If so, let me know if you love em’ or hate em’. Later this week here on the blog, I will be sharing my new – and very first – apartment! I am so excited about it, and I am finally done unpacking. Hope you all are having a fabulous week so far!

Mackenzie

Jumpsuit (linked similar) |Fur Shawl (linked similar) | Platforms (c/o) | Necklace

When I think of wide legged jumpsuits and chunky platforms, I totally think 70’s glam. The 70’s is definitely my favorite decade when it comes to fashion and beauty. I thought this look would be perfect for Valentine’s Day date night or even a gal’s night. I love how this jumpsuit shows just the right amount of skin, and the faux fur shawl and bold heels really dress it up. I’ve linked some similar jumpsuits below! Also,  these chunky platform heels are actually now on sale – which is so groovy.

I hope you all are having a fabulous week!
