Stripes on Stripes

Hello & happy Thursday! I can not believe this week is already almost over. I am heading off to California in just five days, and I have been counting down the days (and procrastinating the ridiculous amount of packing I still have left). My new job starts the first week of June, so it will definitely be nice to have two full weeks to get settled in and decorate!

My mom sent me a pic a few weeks ago with her friends at brunch. She was wearing stripes on stripes, and I felt totally inspired to also rock a mixed striped ensemble (+ borrow her fab accessories). Pretty recently, I did a blog post on my favorite striped set from J.Crew. I still LOVE that set, but it’s a little safe and somewhat predictable. I love a good set, but I typically gravitate towards cohesive, matching ones as you may have noticed by now. Who knew two totally different striped pieces could make such a perfect pair? I am still surprised. This look definitely makes me feel like an actual adult- without being mundane. I paired the stripes with a classic purse and neutral, lace up wedges. Both of these striped pieces could totally be worn on their own with neutral, solid staples. My favorite of the two striped pieces is definitely the amazing, one-shouldered ruffle top. Best part? It’s under $40 and available in every single size from XXS to XL. I think the top would look amazing with white jeans and sandals for an easy, yet polished, summer look. As for the pants, they would be awesome for work. I definitely picture them with some classic heels and a solid blouse. They are crazy comfortable, and I love the tie waist!

Let me know if you have ever rocked the stripes on stripes (matching & mismatched alike).

xoxo,

Mackenzie
