Jail House Rock

Let’s rock everybody, let’s rock!

Okay, work clothes aren’t always fun. It can be challenging to find workwear that’s professional, but still fun & chic. When I spotted this amazing striped top on sale about a month ago at Loft (my fave place to get workwear clothes), I immediately fell in love. My mom initially did not feel the same way about this top: “Those look like jail stripes!“. However, this top ended up growing on her though hehe. I have to admit, thick black and white stripes can seem a little scary to pull off, but I personally think they are very timeless and just a little bit edgy. Horizontal stripes can be a little scary too- especially because they don’t tend to be as flattering as vertical stripes (that make you look taller and thinner!). The stripes on this top are actually quite flattering I have to admit! I also love the fabric and the fit of the top. I now own it in three colors and find myself styling it a hundred different ways for work. If you have been searching for a great work top that rocks, look no further, my friends!

As for these pants, I looveee culottes. I love any pair of pants that don’t require alterations! These pants not only pair with just about anything in the summertime, but they are also so comfy. Pretty much the closest thing I can get to wearing pajamas in public. They are super lightweight and have an elastic waistband. I’m a fan. I decided to pair the look with my favorite, bold pink heels (which are on sale at the moment)! Gotta love a bright pop of color this time of year! I also paired the look with my new, favorite tote bag. I have been carrying it to work everyday, and it holds a ton! I really do like it a lot, and I think it is a great structured purse. To dress the look down a little, I would pair the striped top with black skinny jeans and black, pointy-toed ballet flats! I could also see this top working with a sleek, black pencil skirt and black heels for some more workwear inspo.

black skinny jeans + black pointed flats

I hope you are having a wonderful Monday!

xoxo,

Mackenzie
