Free & Easy Product/Outfit Collage Tutorial

productcollagetutorial

Happy Monday, friends! I hope you had an awesome first weekend of April! Last summer I made a ‘gold font tutorial‘ which now has thousands and thousands of views and pins (to my surprise!). A lot of y’all have been requesting more blog/graphic design tutorials, so I thought I would finally make a product collage tutorial since it’s been so heavily requested. Product collages are so much fun to make & I absolutely love making them. Here is how I make product collages without photoshop, indesign, illustrator, or polyvore (which are all great programs, but can be a little time consuming or difficult to use, especially for beginners)…

Enjoy!

step one: shop & find products

Okay, this may be my favorite part of creating product collages – shopping… hehe. Browse the depths of the internet and find products you want to include in your collage. Look around at different online retailers and have fun. When I find the products I want to use, I screen shot (‘shift, command, 3’ on mac) or right click/save the images. After I have the products on my desktop, I pull them into a folder & crop them!

step 2: head to picmonkey.com

After having the images ready & organized, I head to picmonkey.com. Even though I have & love Adobe applications like indesign & photoshop, I still find myself reaching for the free website, picmoney, more frequently to create collages. I find picmonkey to be much quicker & easier, but that’s just my opinion. I would highly recommend checking out the site! Once I get on picmonkey, I click on the design tab. I like to use custom canvas and type in my own dimensions.

step 3: insert your product

Click on the butterfly icon on the left bar to get to ‘overlays’. Then select ‘Your Own’ right at the very top of the bar. Insert your products onto your canvas.

step 4: organize your collage

Next, I organize all the products in the collage. I personally like to leave a little space at the top to make a header, but that’s totally optional. You can rotate, flip, and re-size your products to make them perfectly fit in place.

step 5: add text & arrows

After getting my products in place, I add text and/or arrows. In my last tutorial, I mentioned the site DaFont. There are millions of free fonts to use on the site, and I would highly recommend checking it out if you love fonts just as much as I do! I used a font called ‘shorelines script‘ from DaFont for this tutorial! Size your font and even change the color if you want to!

After adding some text, feel free to add arrows or any other graphics. I used an arrow I had saved on my desktop, but picmonkey has tons of free arrows to use!

step 6: crop & finish!

  1. Thank you for this amazing tutorial. I wasted hours and money trying to figure out photoshop elements and was so frustrated! Hope you will do other tutorials! Do you have any about designing process for creating. Ew blogs? Wondering if blogger is easier or WordPress. Thanks in advance!

  2. Hi lovely! I just wanted to let you know how helpful this post was and how thankful I am you took the time to post and share it! I’ve always wanted to make one of these posts but Photoshop is just too much for me, and this was so quick and easy! Thanks again and lots of love! X

  3. Thank you!! I have been looking for a tutorial on this everywhere!! And I already have an account with Picmokey that I used for other things so this is awesome…thanks so much!!!

    1. Thank you!I usually only use pieces that have a white background (like Nordstrom, Topshop, H&M) because it makes life so much easier! It’s totally possible to get rid of a white background on picmonkey, but I find it easier just to use pieces that have a white background!
