NYC Apartment Tour – Bedroom

Hello, hello! I’m back with a New York City apartment tour! From my college apartment to my first apartment after graduation, I’ve always shown (almost) every single place that I’ve lived. When I move somewhere new, I always look for inspiration online, so I hope you find this little tour helpful (part two will be coming soon!).

Chase and I moved in together for the first time right after our wedding this past August. We started from scratch, moving to New York City with just a few suitcases. Before we got married, I lived in an already furnished place in Austin, so I didn’t own any furniture. It was nice to start with a blank canvas and pick out everything together.

Here’s a look at our bedroom, bathroom, and entryway:

2022

Hello, friend! Long time, no talk! I’ve missed you!

Sometimes it feels like just yesterday that I was typing away each week on my blog, but other times, it feels like a whole lifetime away. I can not believe it has been four years since I last put down my (well, figuratively speaking) pen and focused on building a life outside of the internet. I loved blogging, and though I’ve missed it, taking time away has helped me grow, learn, discover, and challenge myself.

So what have I been up to lately? Let me catch you up to speed:

My Next Chapter & Taking a Break from Blogging

Thank you! I’ve always known that this day would one day come. I never knew when or why or how, but goodbyes/TTYLs are sometimes inevitable as bittersweet as they tend to be. As one chapter ends, another begins.

This past chapter of my life has most definitely been one for the books, and I want to start off by saying that I will never be able to fully express my gratitude in words. Blogging has been a huge part of my life these past few years, and it has taught me more than I could have ever imagined. When I created this WordPress blog in college, I never in my wildest dreams imagined that it would receive close to 1,000,000 unique views. It has been such a humbling and life changing experience; and for that, I will always be indebted to each and every one of you that supported me, encouraged me, and cheered me on every step of the way. I could have absolutely never made it without you.

Though the world of blogging can have its ups and downs, my experience brought me more joy and confidence than I could even begin to tell you. I was always so thankful to have this incredible creative outlet along with such an inspiring and kind community. Blogging challenged me to the fullest extent, but the lessons learned were truly invaluable.

July Favorites 2017

Hello, hello & happy end of July! August is here, and summer is still under way. I am SO excited for August; I can’t hold it back any longer. With Outside Lands music festival, Vans Warped Tour, and a trip to Maui around the corner, there are so many things I am looking forward to. This past month went by pretty slowly for me, but it has been a great past few weeks because I have been enjoying ample time with my fam! I got to see my sister this month, which is my favorite thing in the entire world, and it’s always so nice to catch up!

During the month of July, I definitely found some new (and incredible) finds. From chic shoes to a stunning eyeshadow palette, I have rounded up some of my must-haves this past month. Without further ado, here are my July faves:

july, favorites, mackenziekendall, picks

one. suede slip-ons (under $100) / two. nude mules (under $100) / three. fedora hat (under $100) / four. embroidered shift dress (sold out on the nSale, still available full-price here) / five. busted jeans (under $100 + true to size) / six. white culotte pants (under $100) / seven. cardigan / eight. velvet sweater (under $40) / nine. cropped denim jacket / ten. luna night oil / eleven. coconut pear chapstick / twelve. too faced peach palette / thirteen. brow mascara

• • •I had three favorite accessories this month – two of them being shoes! It is now secret that I am an avid shoe collector. I rarely purchase new bags or jewelry pieces; instead, I can’t keep myself away from shoes. My two favorites pairs this month were these blush pink slide sneakers and these nude mules. I have been wearing both of them nonstop – especially to the office. I like that they can both be dressed up or dressed down, and they are such soft, feminine hues. They are understated shades that still pack a bit of punch. Now for the hat. I chatted about this hat in my ‘Sunflower Hour’ post, and I still adore this chic piece. I am SO excited to bring it on my upcoming vacay, and it has a way of making any outfit look just a little more put together (even when you haven’t washed your hair in six days… not like I do that or anything 😉 ).

Apartment Tour: Bedroom

Hello friends & happy Sunday! I apologize that I am just now getting this post up; I have been crazy, crazy busy these past few weeks with my new job & catching up with friends. Living in Silicon Valley for the 3rd time now has been a complete dream so far. I can not begin to even describe how at home I feel here in California, and I can’t even put into words how exciting it feels to be back. Last summer, I shared my summer apartment tour, but it wasn’t too thorough because I rented my furniture and was very limited on the things that I could bring. I had so much fun decorating my apartment this time around now that this place is a little more permanent than both my summer apartment and my college apartment. My dad and I moved in about a month ago, and June has been just flying by. Getting settled in and unpacked was definitely a process in itself, but it feels so good to have everything 100% done. Today I wanted to share my new apartment with you guys! I am really happy with the way it turned out, and it feels SO homey. I have linked everything below each picture along with little details about each section!

Without further ado, hello MTV & welcome to my crib:

white dresser // white mirror (from HomeGoods linked similar online option)

I absolutely love this part of my room. Finding a great dresser was definitely a little challenging, especially because my room isn’t very big. I wanted something crisp and white to really brighten up the room. Because I don’t have a lot of closet space, I wanted a six drawer dresser so that I could really hold a lot of things (like workout clothes, pajamas, etc.). This one definitely holds more than I expected, and I am very happy with it. I really love the white mirror as well- it is very cohesive! I purchased it from HomeGoods!

blue & white vase (from HomeGoods- linked similar, online option)

I absolutely love this blue and white vase. It is simple, but adds a really nice touch. It reminds me a little of Greece. The dresser felt a little empty for a while, and I having a medium sized decor piece can really help fill some of that space! My mom gave it to me as a gift, and I think it is gorgeous.
