Mid-March Favorites

Hello & happy middle of March. I know the month is only halfway through, but I wanted to go ahead and share my favorite things of the moment. I’ve decided to switch things up and start shooting some of my blog posts in film because I’m trying to practice. Let me know what you think!

To get through these depressing, lingering winter months, I’ve really been leaning into old hobbies and comforts.

NEW Lush Jelly Mask ‘Just To Clarify’: Review

Lush cosmetics | 'just to clarify' face mask review

Lush cosmetics | 'just to clarify' face mask review

I have been reviewing Lush products on my blog for years now. Lush is definitely my ‘happy place’, and I absolutely love walking into any and every Lush store. Though I don’t get to go shopping there as often as I would like, it’s nearly impossible for me to resist browsing every time I happen to walk by one. So after my Soul Cycle class this past weekend, I decided to walk into Lush to pick up a new products to try out. What immediately caught my eye was the newest product- the jelly masks. I LOVE Lush face masks; they are my favorites (specifically the Cupcake and Cosmetic Warrior masks). They always make for the best ‘treat yourself’ gifts. Though I absolutely adore their masks, I do have a hard time justifying the price when they have a pretty short shelf life. Additionally, they have to be refrigerated, and I often forget to put them back in the fridge. So though I love the Lush face masks, I only buy them for myself a few times a year. When I saw these brand new, innovative masks at the front of the store, I was incredibly interested. Once learning that they didn’t expire quickly nor needed to be refrigerated, I was sold.

Current Skincare Routine | August 2017

my current skincare routine | www.mackenziekendall.com

Hello & happy Sunday! I have been getting so many questions lately via Tumblr about my skincare routine. The last time I shared a thorough skincare routine on my blog was 2015, and I recently realized how much my routine has changed in the past two years. Back in high school, I started diving deeper into skincare, specifically into the world of anti-aging products. I know what you’re probably thinking – ‘Girl, why are you using anti aging products in your early 20’s?!’. I am a big believer that it’s better to start preventing skin damage and aging now than to try and reverse things twenty, thirty years down the road. Though there are a lot of factors that come into play when it comes to skin aging (i.e. genetics, lifestyle, diet/health, sun exposure), I believe that taking care of your skin externally is also very important! I crave routine, so for me personally, having a skincare regimen is essential.

I could ramble on about skincare forever (even though I am no expert or dermatologist by any means); it’s always been such an interesting top for me personally. Today, I wanted to share my favorite skincare products, my current routine, and a few tips I have learned over the years. So without further ado, let’s get into it, friends!

Sephora Haul + Review

sephora haul + review

Hello friends! It hit me pretty recently that it has been quite a while since the last time I did a haul. Sephora is my guilty pleasure; I love picking up old favorites along with testing out new products that catch my eye. Though I love going into the actual Sephora stores and swatching 500 different colors on my hands, online shopping is just a lot more realistic route for me. One thing I love about Sephora is the option to select free samples and snag different promos with every order. The free two-day shipping as a VIP rouge is a big selling point for me as well. When it comes to beauty retailers, I am pretty biased. About three weeks ago I ordered a few things from Sephora, and I wanted to share my thoughts and opinions today on the products I picked up!

July Favorites 2017

Hello, hello & happy end of July! August is here, and summer is still under way. I am SO excited for August; I can’t hold it back any longer. With Outside Lands music festival, Vans Warped Tour, and a trip to Maui around the corner, there are so many things I am looking forward to. This past month went by pretty slowly for me, but it has been a great past few weeks because I have been enjoying ample time with my fam! I got to see my sister this month, which is my favorite thing in the entire world, and it’s always so nice to catch up!

During the month of July, I definitely found some new (and incredible) finds. From chic shoes to a stunning eyeshadow palette, I have rounded up some of my must-haves this past month. Without further ado, here are my July faves:

july, favorites, mackenziekendall, picks

one. suede slip-ons (under $100) / two. nude mules (under $100) / three. fedora hat (under $100) / four. embroidered shift dress (sold out on the nSale, still available full-price here) / five. busted jeans (under $100 + true to size) / six. white culotte pants (under $100) / seven. cardigan / eight. velvet sweater (under $40) / nine. cropped denim jacket / ten. luna night oil / eleven. coconut pear chapstick / twelve. too faced peach palette / thirteen. brow mascara

• • •I had three favorite accessories this month – two of them being shoes! It is now secret that I am an avid shoe collector. I rarely purchase new bags or jewelry pieces; instead, I can’t keep myself away from shoes. My two favorites pairs this month were these blush pink slide sneakers and these nude mules. I have been wearing both of them nonstop – especially to the office. I like that they can both be dressed up or dressed down, and they are such soft, feminine hues. They are understated shades that still pack a bit of punch. Now for the hat. I chatted about this hat in my ‘Sunflower Hour’ post, and I still adore this chic piece. I am SO excited to bring it on my upcoming vacay, and it has a way of making any outfit look just a little more put together (even when you haven’t washed your hair in six days… not like I do that or anything 😉 ).

Better in Blush

It is no secret that blush has been SUCH a hot color these past few months, and I am not complaining about it. Pink is definitely one of those colors you either love to wear or absolutely hate (and hate w/ a passion). However, blush is such an awesome shade because it really works for absolutely any style. One of my favorite things about blush is that it verges on the edge of being a neutral color. Working in San Francisco has made me really appreciate comfortable, practical shoes- specifically sneakers. I was on the hunt for some new tennis shoes that were comfortable, but still a little bit stylish (at least stylish enough to pair with anything from jeans to dresses). When I spotted these gems from Steve Madden, I knew they were exactly what I had in mind. Though they come in several wearable colors, I had to go with the blush.  I don’t wear pink too, too often, but I really do love any pastel shade- muted blush included. I personally think blush is such a lovely shade for summer time, though we tend to picture bold, bright hues for the warmer months. If you love neutrals, you will love blush. It also looks stunning with a tan. Today, I wanted to share a few of my favorite blush accessories for summer!

ONE suede platform slide-on sneaker (I just ordered- they are coming Tuesday & I am pumped) // TWO ‘bare sparkle’ lipgloss // THREE ombre tassel earrings (under $40) // FOUR metallic slides (under $60) // FIVE ankle tie espadrille sandals // SIX square sunglasses (under $60) // SEVEN nars liquid highlighter (awesome mixed into foundation and lotions) // EIGHT tote bag (under $100) // NINE marble phone case (under $25) // TEN envelope clutch (under $100) // ELEVEN western booties (under $100) // TWELVE marble cat eye sunglasses (under $15) // THIRTEEN velvet western belt (under $100)

Blush pairs beautifully with a variety of different prints and colors. I love the color paired with denim, black, white, animal print, gingham (specifically navy/blue gingham!) and nudes. It adds just a little touch of something to any outfit, without too much saturation. I definitely plan on adding a little more blush to my wardrobe this season!

xoxo,

Mackenzie

May Faves

Hello & happy JUNE! May was honestly such a crazy month for me. From graduating college, to accepting a job offer, to making the big move- it has definitely been an exciting past few weeks. I have been looking forward to June for quite some time, so I am stoked that it is finally here! I feel like the days have just been flying by lately, and I am so excited to see what this month has in store.

Today I wanted to share a few things I discovered and loved in May. Let me know below which products/finds you loved this past month!

GLOWY MOISTURIZER pixi glowtion day dew

I honestly can not tell you the last time that I have purchased a full size moisturizer. I constantly bounce from Sephora samples, always hesitant on spending $50+ on a full size, high end moisturizer. When I was in Target about three weeks ago, I decided to pick up this wallet-friendly moisturizer to give it a try. I really, really love it. I am pretty picky about skincare, and I always look up ingredients. I did some research on the brand, Pixi, and decided I would give it a try. I really like this moisturizer for everyday use (not night). It looks beautiful under makeup and really gives your makeup a dewy finish. I also have very sensitive, acne-prone skin and it does not break me out! This product is also super lightweight, which is something I look for in an AM product. I would definitely repurchase this product in the future!

April Favorites

Happy end of April, friends! Is it just me, but did April go by crazy fast? This past April was definitely the busiest month for me in my entirety of college! It’s still so surreal that this has been my last full month of college. I am so incredibly excited for May and all of the exciting things coming up these next few weeks. Let the countdown to Cali begin! Today I am sharing my faves from April along with my highs & lows (including new apartment & new car details!). Without further ado, let’s chat about April!

When it comes to lip products, I am not a huge, huge lipstick kinda girl. I usually gravitate towards liquid products, lip stains, and tinted lip balms. However, when I saw this gorgeous lipstick on the Sephora site, I decided to step out of my comfort zone. I got the shade “beach babe”, and it’s the perfect nude for me. I love the formula- it is moisturizing, but not too shiny. It has a very natural finish to it that looks incredibly natural on the lips.

Peace out, March & heellloooo April. March was definitely a great month for me, filled with plenty of amazing moments and memories. I love March because it’s really such a transition month between winter and spring. The blooming flowers bring promise of the beautiful flora and sunshine to come. I love winter during the holidays, but after NYE, I get a little very sick of the cold weather.  April is my birthday month, which makes spring just a little bit extra exciting for me. I can’t believe that I will be 22 this month (*sings Taylor Swift’s “22”*). I also can’t wrap my head around the fact that this will be my last full month of college. I know I have mentioned graduation in my last few blog posts, but it still seems so surreal to me. How did college go by so quickly?
